Growing up, we often took camping trips to the "woods" on Easter weekend. I have great memories of riding on the tractor, having huge campfires, hunting for eggs, and taking pictures in the Bluebonnets. So - we thought that we would continue on the tradition.
Jacob is definitely old enough to enjoy the outdoors. He made friends with a little boy camped next to us. They had fun fishing in the big water puddles behind our campsite. Jacob also had fun riding his red truck around with Emma in the passenger seat. (Jacob did say he was afraid on Saturday night. He did not want to sleep in the tent and was scared there might be wolves -thanks Papa - or scary noises like the night before.) Emma, on the other hand, probably isn't quite old enough. However, she did better than I thought and loved blowing bubbles, going on walks with Caki, and letting Mimi "hold me."
Friday and Saturday really turned out to be great. Saturday night it rained and got very cold. I don't think that our tent is meant for cold weather. Overall, we had a great time...even though we did lose a little sleep.
It was wonderful to spend time with Caki and Pawpaw & Mimi and Papa. We are so blessed to be able to spend time doing things together as a family.
What an awesome way to celebrate Easter too - How can we deny that Jesus is alive with all the beauty that God has created...the tall green trees, the big blue sky, the stars and moon at night.
