Inks Lake

Last weekend was Jacob's fall break, so we took advantage and went camping at Inks Lake near Austin. It really was a nice state park and we got lucky with the weather. It didn't rain until the day we were leaving.
Our outing was to the Longhorn Cavern State Park. The kids enjoyed the first half. After about an hour of walking, they were ready to rest. Jacob also decided he wanted to be a tour guide when he grows up. He always had a question and wanted to shadow the tour guide. It was a neat cave and had a lot of interesting history behind it.

Oh- the fishing pole. Jacob and Emma were pretty good about taking turns casting the line out into the street. Then, we got daring and went to the lake to practice. Maybe we'll really fish in a few years when we have a little more fine motor control. We don't want any hooks in our fingers!!
I have to say I think Jacob's favorite thing was roasting marshmallows. Actually, I think it had more to do with watching it burn. Emma liked it too...but was a little more nervous about the fire. We were the ones nervous when Jacob was walking with the burning marshmallow like a crazy man!!

They both enjoyed riding bikes up and down the hills. Well, sometimes they had to get out and walk the bike up the hill. :) It was a great weekend outdoors with Mimi and Papa. Glad they had their trailer with hot water and a bath!! That made it a lot easier.
