Fourth of July fun

We had a fun, long weekend for the Fourth. First we headed out to the hill country. It's beautiful there...even though it was hot. The Frio River really is my favorite place in Texas. There have not been many summers that I haven't floated in the cold Frio River. Lots of fun memories were made there growing up.

We had a few days there to relax. Jacob and Emma also had their first float trip. They wore their lifejackets and off we went. The river was really low~so I knew it wouldn't be a fast one. By the time we made it back to the cabin I had applied 20 coats of SPF100 on Emma and she was snoozing on my chest. Jacob, of course, was in heaven. He wanted to jump off the trees and swing from the rope swings like our cousin Mike. Maybe I'll let him when he's 25. :) I wish we would have had a little more time to visit with our family from all over the country...California, New York, Colorado and Alabama.

Next, we were off to Pearville for some fun and relaxation at Caki and Pawpaw's. Emma finally has gained some confidence in the water and she started to swim by herself with the life vest on! Caki also took them to Kemah and the kids got to feed the sting rays...or at least attempted to do so. The grandparents were gracious enough to keep the kids the remainder of the week. A few nights at David's parents' and few at mine. So, David and I got to head home with NO kids!! Needless to say, we went out to eat every night, socialized with adults and I slept in. It was great, even though we did miss them.

This week is back to normal. (whatever that might be) Jacob is going to a Christian sports camp every day and having fun playing with his friends. And the summer continues to fly by...
