Lost

Yesterday evening was one of the worst I have had in a while. It all started with Jacob throwing the biggest crying fit I've ever seen him throw. He did not want to get ready for his first t-ball game. He refused to put on his uniform. (I think he was afraid of it being too hot and said something about not getting to hit the ball.) It was one of those moments in which I really didn't know what to do. Do I force him to go? Do I stay home? Do we go and watch? David is actually coaching his team, so I hate for the season to go by and Jacob not even play! So, David went on and I brought him later along with Emma. Once we arrived, he still did not want to play. It was hot, so I really didn't blame him for not wanting to wear black pants with knee length socks.
At the very end of the game , he did decide to bat...so maybe next week will be better and cooler!

As I was very distracted with Jacob, I was keeping an eye on Emma. She was playing on this ramp to another field. I kept watching, then she wandered a little further and I told her to come back. Since my kids don't do everything I tell them to do, I guess this was the moment in which she wandered even further. It was a crowded place, the worst to lose a child in...a live nightmare.

So, I started looking close by and couldn't find her. I asked some other moms to help me...at this point I was in a panic. It really is the worst feeling in the world. I found the dogs, thinking maybe she had gone to pet them again...because she has absolutely no fear of them anymore. I really think it was a good 3-5 minutes (an eternity!!) before another team mom found her. I was crying at that point and Emma had no clue. I was just happy to find her and thankful that she was back in my arms. Thank you God!

So, I don't think that I will criticize again for any parents on the news that have lost a child(well, maybe some), or when I hear an announcement at Walmart for a found child. It can happen to anyone.

It might be a good idea to get her a leash.
